Winter would not be the same here without the flowers of this wonderful, easily grown crocus. These varieties have giant flowers almost the size of tulips. I grow a patch of these bright orange, black eyed flowered bulbs amongst Euphorbia nicaeensis in the dry garden. The flowers are produced several to each 40 cm tall wiry stems in spring. Ixia maculata is called Corn Lily because its flower buds resemble heads of wheat. more... about Ixia maculata
