Arum palaestinum

This black flowered Arum has a quite pleasant smell described as “similar to fermenting fruit” in Peter Boyce’s monograph. A native of Syria, Lebanon and Palestine it grows on dry hillsides and the edges of cultivated fields. It does well in our dry garden but grows twice the size in a well watered spot. Earlier flowering than Dracunculus and a smaller plant, this Arum is happy in any well drained spot in sun or light shade. 50cm x 50cm.

Available again in our Bulb Catalogue, early 2011.
