The Californian genus Calochortus is one of the most beautiful of all the bulbous genera. Not difficult to grow if they are planted in a sunny well drained spot and kept dry during summer. C. ‘Cupido’ is a new import and unlike many of its kin has a good bulb increase. Ethereal soft mauve flowers many to each bulb are produced during late spring on 15cm tall stems.
