Furcraea macdougalii - MacDougal’s Century Plant

Considered to be one of the most beautiful members of the Agavaceae this plant grows wild in one small area in Oaxaca, Mexico. I haven’t tried it outside during winter and suspect our heavy frosts will kill it but it is reputed to be hardy to light frosts so a coastal planting would be ideal. When happy it can grow 7 metres tall and when ready it will produce an inflorescence some 8 metres above this. This plant is rarely available anywhere in the world.
