I used to grow hundreds of these for the wholesale trade 20 odd years ago but stupidly didn’t bring any stock to Ascot when we moved here. I got Genista lydia again seven years ago and planted it in the dry climate garden where it is completely at home. It makes a mounding shrub of arching thin wiry stems which are covered in bright yellow flowers in late spring and early summer. Tough, drought tolerant and sun loving. 80cm x 100cm.
