Gladiolus tristisWe grow this beautiful easy wildling through a carpet of Origanum and Centaurea in our dry climate garden. Its dark green reed like leaves are produced in winter. During spring thin stiffly upright flower stems carry three large flowers, soft creamy lemon with intricate brown pencilling. They flower in succession for a fair while. The delicious honey fragrance hangs on the air on still evenings no doubt to attract pollinating moths. Happy in any sunny spot wet or dry. 60cm x 20cm. |
