We were given bulbs of this lily many years ago by that fine plantsman, the late Brian Tonkin. Lilium ‘Black Beauty has proved to be a tough, reliable, free flowering and disease free lily. We grow it in our double borders where during late summer 2 metre tall self supporting stems produce 30 or more dark crimson flowers which open during a period of 4 weeks. It enjoys reasonable soil in a sunny position.
