2012 Bulb Catalogue Now OnlineWe have dug about half of our three acre bulb field and have a fair idea of which varieties are available for sale. This year we list a good number of new imports and many other uncommon varieties which are exclusive to Lambley.
Our summer 2012 bulb catalogue is now on-line. You may visit it here. Quite a few of the bulbs listed on the website are likely to be very popular and will not be in the printed catalogue. If you order straight away you can be sure that your order will be filled. The bulbs will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The bulbs should all be up by Christmas and then drying, cleaning, curing and grading will take much of January. We will start sending bulb orders out in February. Please note bulbs will not be ready to be picked up from the nursery until February. Christmas time at Lambley is a time for celebration. The garden is looking as well as it has ever looked at this time of year. David, Criss and all the staff at Lambley would like to wish our customers and friends all the joys of Christmas and a prosperous and happy New Year. May all your gardens flourish. |

The full range of available plants including those from the new catalogue can also be viewed on our online catalogue here. The Dry Garden and Molly’s Garden are looking extraordinarily beautiful at the moment and will be at their spring early summer best from now until Christmas. Mt Fuji Cherry Blossom at Lambley
Under the cherry blossoms
None
Are utter strangers.
Issa
The Mount Fuji Cherry Avenue at Lambley will be at its best over the next ten days depending on the weather. Visitors are welcome to picnic under the cherry trees.
The tulip borders in the vegetable garden are in their full sumptuous glory and will be looking good for another two weeks or so. I plant 6000 of these horticultural wonders every year and every year I’m astonished by their glory.
Crocus at Their Finest
The Crocus vernus hybrids have weathered the incredibly wet cold blustery days we’ve had over the last week or so and will be at their best this weekend. A weekend which will be fine and sunny, just the weather Crocus need to shine. If you have time it would be well worth a visit to Lambley and if you don’t have time make some.
Winter Bulb Display
Two autumns ago we planted eight thousand Crocus vernus bulbs in a quite formal garden area which we made for our grand-daughter Molly. The crocuses are the giant Dutch varieties, Pickwick, Jeanne d’Arc, Grand Maistre and Remembrance. They flower at the same time as Molly’s birthday.
This year there are nigh on twenty thousand flowers and this weekend and next week will be the best time to see them. Though I say it myself this garden is one of the seven wonders of Ascot.
The Iris reticulata ‘Harmony’ are also in full flight, flowering with Hoop petticoat daffodils and Crocus sieberi ‘Tricolor’ which was once described as being like a “purple egg in a golden egg cup wrapped in a white damask napkin.” Or words to that effect. I can’t find the exact quote.
If you do nothing else this weekend visit Lambley and give your soul some joy and respite.
