Allium schubertii
The Pacific Bulb Society writes “A fantastic, whimsical giant onion with flower pedicels of various length, creating a big spidery ball of blooms.” The spherical flower head, half a yard across, is in bloom for a good six to eight weeks during the early part of spring. It does need some space, 60cm wouldn’t be too much, and also wants to be planted in a sunny spot. The flower head sits atop a sturdy 40cm tall stem.
