Aloysia triphylla

This delightfully fragrant shrub, native to South America, has been grown in European gardens for more than two centuries. Whilst the flowers are pretty enough it is the strong lemon aromas of the leaves for which it is grown. The leaves are used to make a herbal tea. Best grown in full sun Lemon Verbena is drought tolerant when once established. Height 2 metres width 1.80 metres.
