Kniphofia ‘Winter Cheer’

Kniphofia ‘Winter Cheer’ is one of the delights of winter when the large flower heads, scarlet with a yellow skirt, are produced. Though in very cold areas frost may burn the tender buds as they first emerge from the foliage clump. The larger growing kniphofias are tolerant of drought and this is no exception. I cut the leaves down to about 15cm after flowering has finished as this keeps everything tidy. 150cm x 100cm. Sun.
