Magnolia laevifolia
This intensely fragrant evergreen Magnolia hails from the western montane forests of China. It makes an evergreen shrub some 3 metres tall by 2 metres across. Its leaves are glossy and leathery and during spring its furry buds open to clusters of cinnamon fragrant 5cm wide white flowers. It will happily grow in sun or light shade. It will need some extra irrigation during dry periods.
